New York State Police troopers stopped Red Hook resident Matthew Minnow, 38, shortly after 3 a.m. on Friday morning on Route 9 in Fishkill for a traffic violation. During the subsequent stop, troopers reported that the license plates appeared to be forged.

The investigation found the vehicle given out as a loaner from Minnow Motors in Poughkeepsie. Police said that it was determined that Minnow had forged two dealer plates in order to place additional vehicles on the road with the same registration.

Minnow was arrested and charged with two counts each of forgery and possession of a forged instrument, all felonies. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. Minnow is due back in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on Jan. 31 and the City of Poughkeepsie Court on Feb. 7 to answer the charges.
